Professor Chakravarthy of Queens University is heading a new research study into laser treatment of Age Related Macular Degeneration.
The RVH are one of a few selected centres around the world for this trial. Prof Chakravarthy needs recruits for the study. Optometry practices are the perfect place to source volunteers as early AMD is often first noticed by Optometrists within the community. The study will last for 36 months with several visits and 7 laser treatments. The type of patients who are eligible for the study / key criteria are:
1. Age > 50 years
2. Good visual acuity, at least Snellen 6/12 or better in both eyes
3. No evidence of late stage macular degeneration (neovascular or geographic atrophy) in either eye
4. BHSCT will fully engage with any prospective volunteers and provide all the necessary information etc….thereafter
If you think that you have a patient who would be suitable, please contact Miss Rebecca Denham (RVH) – 02890 635 5412 or click on link above.
